Introduction
Welcome to the Amber Valley Classic Car Club
Amber Valley Classic Car Club is a friendly and welcoming club for classic vehicle enthusiasts across the Amber Valley region of Derbyshire. We are proud members of the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs.
AVCCC have more than 100 members with a wide range of ages, backgrounds, and professions, our club is united by a shared passion for classic vehicles — whether that’s owning them, restoring them, driving them, or simply admiring them.
Just as importantly, we enjoy the social side of club life, with regular gatherings, events, and shows throughout Derbyshire and beyond.
Our members own and enjoy vehicles of all types, including:
- Pre-war classics
- British and European classics
- Modern classics
- American vehicles
- Specialist and rare cars
From vehicles dating back to the 1920s through to future classics, there’s something for everyone in the club.
What Counts as a Classic Car?
For us, a classic vehicle is more than just its age. It’s a vehicle that is valued and cared for because of its character, history, rarity, or sentimental importance.
While classic vehicles are generally considered to be over 15 years old, we also welcome vehicles that the Committee considers to be of historic, specialist, or enthusiast interest. There is no strict minimum age requirement, and modern classics and American vehicles are always welcome.
Car Events and Shows
Many of our members enjoy attending local and national car shows, road runs, and club events throughout the year.
Please note that some third-party event organisers may apply their own age-related entry rules for show vehicles (for example, requiring vehicles to be registered before a certain year). These conditions are set by the organisers, and the club/committee are unable to override them.
Join Us
Whether you’re a lifelong enthusiast, currently restoring a project, or have recently bought your first classic vehicle, you’ll find a warm welcome at Amber Valley Classic Car Club.
Club History & Events
Our Club History and Events
Amber Valley Classic Car Club was founded in 1988 by four enthusiastic members who first met at The Gate Inn in Brinsley. Over the years, the club has gathered at several venues across the area, and since July 2016 our regular meetings have been held at The Excavator, Buckland Hollow.
Car Events and Shows
From March through to October, you’ll often find our members attending classic car shows, local events, and informal pub gatherings throughout Derbyshire and beyond. Whenever possible, we take along our Club gazebo to provide a welcoming space where members can relax, enjoy lunch, and catch up with fellow enthusiasts — hopefully with a bit of sunshine too.
Coffee Mornings and Social Gatherings
As well as attending vehicle events, we hold regular members-only Coffee Mornings at different venues each month. These informal gatherings alternate between Mondays and Thursdays to give members greater flexibility.
The coffee mornings are a great opportunity to meet socially, enjoy breakfast, and catch up with friends in a relaxed setting. They are not formal car events, so there’s absolutely no requirement to arrive in your classic vehicle — daily drivers are always welcome.
Working with Other Clubs
Many of our members are also part of the Great British Car Club based in Ambergate, and we enjoy a reciprocal relationship by supporting each other’s activities and events.
Through this partnership, we also help promote the Great British Car Journey at selected shows and events, sometimes displaying their flags alongside our own and sharing visitor information and literature.
There is no obligation for Amber Valley Classic Car Club members to join the Great British Car Club, but the connection between the clubs helps strengthen the local classic motoring community.
Members are also in other one marque clubs, such as MGCC, MGOC, TR Register, etc.
